What is a good topic to write about for my school newspaper?
That depends on how much courage you have. I’ll assume this is an American high school newspaper. Here’s just a few ideas for provocative topics that you could write about: a) The dismal performance of most American students due to obtuse government-instigated test scores and bureaucratic hyperbole designed to grab more government funding instead of educating our children; b) The abhorrent inequities between schools in “poor” neighborhoods and those in “rich” neighborhoods (a good place to start researching this is “A Framework for Understanding Poverty” by Ruby K. Payne, Ph.D.); c) The first “illegal aliens” who came to America just over four hundred years ago. As they invaded this new world, they massacred the native American Indians without bothering to learn their language or adopt their customs; d) The monopolistic, corrupt two-party political system in America that gives voters no choice – or voice – our electoral process; e) Our materialistic society that puts money and “things”
