What is a good technique to prevent from singing in falsetto “head voice”?
Well as only male singers have a falsetto, I will assume you are a man. The thing about a head voice is that it allows for unharmful singing at a higher range. If you are trying to sing a higher note without going into falsetto when your voice naturally leads you there then you are most likely straining and causing your voice harm. However, you can increase the range of your chest voice through proper singing technique and daily practice. This will extend the range at which your voice goes into the falsetto break. Maintaining singing in your chest voice will also require more greatly controlled breathing.
