Not too much here for specifics, but basic ideas: • If you have a early car, convert to the later torque arm suspension. • Sticky tires (duh). • Stiffer springs. • Race/competition shocks (Koni (no longer available), Carerra, KYB) • Larger sway bars. • Polyurethane bushings on panhard rod (or upper control arms) and lower control arms. NOTE: Using poly bushings on both ends of the control arm will cuase binding–use regular rubber on one end. • Polyurethane bushings up front too! • Negative camber. Zero toe. • As much caster as you can get. Swapping the upper A-arms side to side can give you a lot of caster. Kevin (SoloII_74) offers this advice: “I autocrossed my ’74 for 3 years as an H stock Solo II car. No modifications outside those allowed by the stock class rules – no urethane, etc., just stock rubber bushings. I still ripped the upper rear control arm mounts out of the body.
