What is a good resume format that will showcase my education over my job experience?
Don’t be afraid to deviate a bit from the ‘traditional’ format of resumes to highlight what makes you the best candidate for a position. The key two things to remember is that, on average, you have only 30 seconds for a person to skim that resume and decide whether or not to read it in detail and that most people that review resumes in an HR department are looking for reasons to exclude you, so don’t leave any mistakes in the resume body. You do not list your major, so I will give general advice. Just below the traditional Education section, add two bullet points: a) Degree Focus Areas and b) Additional Education. In the former, add those labs and classes that directly apply to the job for which you’ve applied; in the latter, add those other certificates and training you’ve had that are associated with the job for which you have applied. You should list your work experience, no matter how unrelated as line items below your Education section, but make sure your accomplishment for each f
