What is a good length of time for a summer program?
Gone are the mandatory eight weeks of camp. Today’s camps offer a variety of choices which provide even greater flexibility for the parent, and can allow a child to attend more than one type of program during the summer or be cost-effective when there are several children in a family. Four and eight week programs are still very popular and the more time a camper is involved in a program the more they can get out of it. A four-week program allows parents to spend vacation time with their children or offers a good taste of camping for a child who may not be ready for a full summer away from home. The child enjoys it, then they can go back for the longer session the following year. As you narrow down your search, you will find that many programs offer 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8 week options.
