What is a good clay for clay animation?
In the US, studios use Van Aken “also known as Claytoon” brand oil based clay. This company also makes polymer clay that can be baked in an oven to harden. It costs only about three dollars per pound of oil based clays – this is the kind you want to use. In the UK the brand most used is Newplast clay. It’s old name was Harbutts and you might still find this in shops.
