What is a good Broadway song for a girl to sing?
From your question I get the impression that you are not looking for Broadway songs “closer to opera,” rather you want more traditional shows (ex: not Rent or Wicked. More along the lines of Rogers and Hammerstein). There are plenty of great songs for a high school female. I’m going to take a guess that you are a mezzo-soprano. You say you aren’t a soprano and I suspect that you would have figured out by now if you were a really low alto. FYI: A baritone is a guy’s voice. Some good show tunes (I put * next the ones I think are the best – even if some of them may be obscure): *Far From the Home I Love – Fiddler on the Roof Many a New Day – Oklahoma **So In Love – Kiss Me Kate I Hate Men – Kiss Me Kate Lullaby of Broadway – 42nd Street 42nd Street – 42nd Street *Ain’t Misbehavin’ – Ain’t Misbehavin’ *Anyone Can Whistle – Anyone Can Whistle ***The Simple Joys of Maidenhood – Camelot (VERY funny) *If I Loved You – Carousel You’ll Never Walk Alone – Carousel They Can’t Take That Away From M
