What is a good biography of Adolf Hitler?
~If you want to understand what Hitler was about, you have to read Mein Kampf. Although it is partially autobiographical, it is not an autobiography and, having been published in 1925 (Vol 1) and 1926 (Vol 2), it is hardly instructive on his life during the most significant years. It is, however, a political treatise on the philosophy he and the National Socialists employed once he rose to power. You can learn nothing by reading a single book by a single author. For starters, I suggest you try “Adolf Hitler: The Definitive Biography” by John Toland and “Rise And Fall Of The Third Reich” by William L. Shirer. “Explaining Hitler: The Search for the Origins of His Evil” by Ron Rosenbaum is okay and deals with many of the myths I suspect you are curious about. “Hitler’s Diaries: The Mind & God of Adolf Hitler” by Adolf Hitler with inclusions and compilations by/from R.
