What is a good age to ween from the pacifier?”

I work at a day care and most children are weaned off of their pacifiers before they even come into the one year old room. We take care of kids ages 12 months to 2 years old in the one year old room. Our kids cannot be moved up if they are 2 and still using a pacifier because they are too dependent. The sooner the better, allowing your child to have a pacifier when they are starting to talk will only hinder their speech. Once kids start crawling around and putting other things in their mouth you should be able to start hiding the pacifier, doing it while they are distracted helps as well. Good luck!
