What is a Glost or Glaze firing?
This is the second firing following application of glaze material to a bisqued body. The higher temperature will melt the glaze material and harden the ceramic body. A glaze becomes fluid and can run down a pot and stick to the kiln shelf. Remember to thoroughly wipe the glaze off of the bottom, or the foot, of the pot. Wipe a little from the edge corner of the base as well. A fired pot that shows glaze flaws can often be re-glazed, or touched up, and re-fired.
