What Is a GI Diet Plan?
The GI Diet Plan, also known as the Glycemic Index Diet or Low GI Diet, is a nutritional plan based on the way different carbohydrates change human blood chemistry. Most determinations about which foods to eat rely on the glycemic index, which is a ranking of different carbohydrate foods based on blood glucose response. Carbohydrates that generate a small response are encouraged, while those that generate a larger response are discouraged or eliminated. Following the glycemic index will generally lead to avoidance of foods that are high in sugar and refined carbohydrates, along with a move toward foods that are richer in fiber. Proponents of the GI Diet Plan claim many benefits, including reduced appetite, energy increases, weight loss, and lowered insulin sensitivity.
A GI diet plan, also known as low GI diet plan is one which ranks carbohydrates based on the effect they have on the blood sugar levels. It is better to have a lower GI value as it would have cause a slow increase in the blood sugar.
Also, a low GI diet is suitable for everyone and it helps in reduce hunger holes. It is even suitable for those with impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes.
