What is a Geothermal Heat Pump (GHP) system?
A Geothermal Heat Pump system is an electrically powered heating and cooling system which transfers heat either to or from the earth using water wells or a network of buried high-density polyethylene pipes via a refrigeration process. It provides home heating and cooling using three components (see Figure 1): • Ground loop (buried piping system); • Heat pump (inside the house); • Heating and cooling distribution system.
