What is a genetic program?what is a genetic code?
A genetic program has a variety of meanings depending on the context. 1. A computer program that is used in population genetics to determine the outcome of factors such as mutation, selection etc. on populations. Can be extended to areas such as phylogenetics where the program is used to infer the relationships between different groups of organisms. 2. A genetic programme of a cell, means the actions of specific genes at different times which lead to the production of different cell types. A liver cell for example is programmed differently to a nerve cell for example – different genes are switched on and off at different times to produce a cell with specific function. 3. A genetic programme related to development is like the above, except it refers to the whole process of development of an organism, with different genes being switched on an off at different times to develop tissues and organs in the correct sequence. THE genetic code is the sequence of bases in DNA which specify differ
