What is a Geek Squad Black Tie Protection Number?
Best Buy assigns a unique number to your product and plan purchase. If you purchased your plan on or after September 14, 2008, the Plan Number will be referred to as a Geek Squad Black Tie Protection Number or a Gadgets and Gizmos Number. Geek Squad Black Tie Protection Number generally refers to plan numbers with a retail value above $300. All Best Buy product protection plan names were changed on September 14, 2008 to include a variety of benefits and services. The changes were extensive enough to merit referring to them by a new name. Please refer to your brochure for specific enhancements. Plans purchased before September 14, 2008, will still be referred to as and covered by either a Best Buy Performance Service Plan (PSP) or Product Replacement Plan (PRP).
