What is a G Scale Model Train?
Model trains are grouped according to scales – the smaller-scale models, and the larger-scale models such as the G scale. The G scale is known for being the larger scales out there. Out of the four popular model train scales, G scales are the biggest. The ratio of this is 1:22. This means that real trains are only twenty two times larger than the smaller replica. Others are much, much smaller. The O scale, which is also in the larger-scale model train group, has a ratio of 1:48 and is about half the size of G scales. O scales are 16.1 inches long and 3.6 inches high while G scales are 26.7 inches long and about 6 inches high.
