What is a Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) ?

0

A Fully Qualified Domain Name is the complete name written to specify a node’s (computer) location in the hierarchy. For example there may be two groups within the DNS Made Easy organization; sales and marketing. So we could use the sub domains sales.dnsmadeeasy.com and market.dnsmadeeasy.com. If there was to be a system in the marketing group the FQDN for this computer would be computer1.market.dnsmadeeasy.com. www.DNSMadeEasy.com is the FQDN for the webserver for the whole entire DNS Made Easy organization. Where as www.market.DNSMadeEasy.com could be the FQDN for the webserver for the marketing department inside of the DNS Made Easy organization.
