What is a First B-Notice and why did I receive one?

Each year, the IRS compares the TIN and name supplied by EDS on the IHCP 1099 file, to IRS records. If the TIN and number combination does not match, the IRS notifies EDS with the CP2100 Report. The CP2100 Report lists taxpayer information supplied by EDS. EDS must determine, from the report, which information is correct. It is a factor used to determine if a provider will receive a B-Notice. B-Notices are mailed to providers to request a W-9 form with the TIN and name combination that is registered with the IRS.
