Feral cats tend to band together in groups around available food sources. Sometimes in relatively safe places like rodent infested hay barns and farmers fields. Sometimes in very dangerous areas near busy streets and highways – rest stop, apartment, hotel and restaurant dumpsters are common. These are feral ‘colonies’ and there are more of them than most people can imagine.
