What is a fellowship-trained mammographer?
A general radiologist spends 4 years in residency training and typically has only two or three months of training in interpreting mammography and breast ultrasound. Radiologists with fellowship training in breast imaging have spent an additional year specializing in breast imaging and biopsy techniques. Medical studies show that fellowship trained mammographers outperform general radiologists in cancer detection and cancer diagnosis.
