What is a Federal-Wide Assurance (FWA)?
The Mount Carmel IRB has a Federal-Wide Assurance (FWA) on file with the Office for Human Research Protection (OHRP). This Assurance is an agreement between Mount Carmel and OHRP, which acts on behalf of the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services. The FWA outlines the principles and guidelines that govern the institution, faculty, staff, and students in the protection of the rights and welfare of subjects in research conducted at or sponsored by Mount Carmel and its affiliated research organizations, regardless of the funding source.
