What is a fasting glucose blood test and what do they test for?
the fasting blood glucose test I took that diagnosed my diabetes was where they check your fasting(8-10 hours) glucose level then drink the sugar syrup (taste like extra strong fruit punch), sit and wait 2 hours, and they test blood glucose again. they dont want you to move around alot for the 2 hours because it throws off the test, exercise uses blood sugar and the test wont be accurate. the blood test for A1C ,I was told, doesn’t have to be fasting because it is a measure of your glucose levels over a 3 month period.
