What is a fast growing, nice looking tree whose roots won clog drains?
It would really help to know where you live or which USDA hardiness zone you’re in. The trees I recommend might not survive in your area. So, take the answers you get, to your local independent garden center, to see which are hardy where you live, and which they can find for you. The size range you give is also a bit of a problem. At your tallest range (22-28 feet tall) is barely in the ‘tree’ height range. You might be better to consider a large shrub, trained in a ‘tree shape’ (called ‘standard’). Faster growing trees or shrubs tend to be a little weak wooded, breaking easily in storms, and their roots do tend to search out the water. At your size range though, I doubt they would be a serious problem to your drain. I’d look at Viburnum (many to choose from, specifically Viburnum lentago), Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata as a ‘standard’), Witch hazel (Hammemelis) or Cornelian cherry (Cornus mas) are also good considerations. All of these plants would survive in USDA hardiness zone 5.
