The Department of Education uses the information provided on the FAFSA to determine eligibility for aid from the federal student financial assistance programs. Completing a FAFSA is free and can be submitted on-line or on paper. You should submit your FAFSA as soon after January 1st as possible. Grant money is first come, first serve.
