What is a DTD (Document Type Definition) and why is it important?
DTD or Document Type Definition is used to define the allowable syntax used in your documents. By placing a DTD into your document you can validate or check your markup against an established standard. XHTML 1.0 has three flavors of DTD: Transitional, Strict and Frameset.
