What Is a Doric Column?
Modern society owes a great deal to the culture of the ancient Greeks. The English alphabet is based upon that of the Greeks, their art and government inspired our own and their innovations in architecture remain pervasive in modern design. One of the most recognized of Greek architectural forms is that of the column, and the oldest and simplest of the various styles of Greek columns is the Doric column.
