What is a dog obedience school?
Obedience schools train dogs to perform (or not perform) certain actions and train the dog owners to coach these actions. School can both increase your dog’s good activities (i.e. tricks) and decrease your dog’s inappropriate behaviors (e.g. chewing). In addition, obedience schools are a place for dogs to have fun. They have physical activity and learn to socialize with both humans and their canine classmates. The term “dog obedience school,” however, actually includes a wide range of dog training options. Some individuals promote themselves as dog trainers, pet behavior specialists, or pet behavior consultants, but compared to obedience schools, they all play similar, if perhaps slightly advanced, roles.
