Under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exclusions and Exceptions) Scotland Order 2003, if you are selected for an excepted post involving regular contact with children and/ or vulnerable adults, or involved in the administration of the law or in certain other sensitive areas and professions, you will be required to submit either a Standard or Enhanced Disclosure Application (Police Check). Given the nature of the postions for which Disclosure Scotland checks apply, the outcome of the police check may impact on your suitability for appointment. Inverclyde Council has a policy on the recruitment of ex-offenders and is committed to treating people fairly. A criminal record will not necessarily be a bar to obtaining employment and we will always give you the opportunity to make representations and discuss the circumstances of your conviction before taking any decisions on your suitablity for the post.
