What is a Director of Pupil Training?
The recommendation in the Wood Report [17] was that an ATO should have as a member, or member of its staff, a director of pupil training who (although not necessarily a registered supervisor) has undergone a supervisors’ training course (run by an Inn or Circuit) within the last five years. The precise title may be varied slightly if wished but the role of the appointee is to oversee pupillage arrangements in chambers/the ATO on a day to day basis. This requirement will be monitored through the Chambers Monitoring Process.
