What is a DHCP server? Does ConcentricDSL use DHCP to dynamically assign IP addresses?
A DHCP server may be used on a network to dynamically assign an IP address to a PC each time the PC is turned on or otherwise reconnected to the network. A different IP address is usually assigned each time. This is different than a static IP address that remains the same. Concentric does not use a DHCP server as part of the Concentric DSL service. There is no need to. Your IP addresses are assigned statically, so they are always the same. Your PC should be configured to always use the same IP address (Don’t use DHCP).
