What is a Dental Therapist and how are they different to a Dentist?
A Dental Therapist is a highly trained dental clinician who has concentrated their university studies on a dental treatment of children. Their training is specifically focussed on the care and treatment of children from 0-18 years of age, and their dental training with regards, to the treatment of children is the same as received by a Dentist. The major difference is that they do not study the additional dental subjects required for the care of adults, such as root canal treatment and crowns and implants. This means that they are able to exclusively focus their studies on the care of children, which means that they become experts at this very important health care need and can spend their time and focus on caring for our important young patients.
