What is a delinquency charge?
As stated above, a delinquency charge is when a juvenile commits a misdemeanor or felony before the age of 17 and is seen in Juvenile Court. There are some exceptions: – Certain felony charges (such as 1st or 2nd degree assualt, etc.) where a juvenile can be certified as an adult and brough into Adult Court. – Juveniles who are age 16 can be treated as an adult for charges related to Liquor Laws, Motor Vehicle Laws, City Ordinance Violations, etc. – Juveniles, age 12 and up, can be brought into Adult Court for violation of Tobacco Laws.
