What is a degree audit?
A degree audit is a computer based assessment showing the progress a student is making toward meeting degree requirements. The degree audit takes into account the major requirements, transfer credit, completed courses and courses in progress. See www3.fitnyc.edu/registrar/AboutReg/DegreeAudits.htm for details on the DARS audit including frequently asked questions about the web audit.
When you apply for your degree, the Registrar’s Office begins the degree audit process. The Department Coordinator for your area of study and the Dean of your faculty review the courses you’ve completed, compare them to the requirements for your degree, and determine whether, in fact, you’re eligible to receive your degree.
Criminal justice majors having completed 70 or more credit hours should complete the Request for Degree Audit. The form can be downloaded here or picked-up in DSC 208. The purpose for the degree audit is to allow sufficient time to complete a degree audit of a student record and verify degree requirements are being met. Upon completion of the degree audit, students will be informed of their remaining degree requirements needed to graduate. The Request for Degree Audit also serves as a graduation checklist for graduating seniors. The form is available at the School of Criminolgy and Criminal Justice office at DSC 208, or you can download the Request for Degree Audit. Return to the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice office at DSC 208 or copy this information into an e-mail and send to Steve Culver, Academic Advisor.
