What is a deep tissue massage?
A deep tissue massage is exactly what the name implies. In these sessions we work to access the deeper layers of fascia beyond the superficial layers of the body. We look to affect a change in the muscles, tendons and connective tissue of the body by using more aggressive techniques to reach the deeper structural level of the body. Deep tissue massage works to release the chronic patterns of tension in the body. By using slow strokes and deep finger pressure on contracted tissue we are able to break up adhesions and scar tissue. This type of massage may cause some soreness during or right after the massage, similar to a good workout in the gym, but should only last for a day or so and is well worth the results you’ll receive.
