What is a dect phone &how does it differ from the ordinary handset?
DECT 6.0 is a new wireless standard which was implemented to eliminate the possibility of license free devices from interfering with each other. This standard, based on 1.9GHz, is applied to most often cordless phones, but also wireless intercoms and baby monitors among other things. It is purely digital as it does not have an analogue counterpart on the same frequency band, and is afforded a higher power output allowing for greater range. The frequency, it’s ability to share that band with other devices without creating interference, and the power output is what sets DECT 6.0 devices apart from the others. What this means to you is you don’t have to worry about it messing up your wireless LAN (or vice versa), you won’t pick up other peoples’ phone conversations, and you can take it further than other cordless handsets. — Also in reply to the prior answer, not all digital cordless handsets are DECT 6.0, but all DECT 6.0 devices are indeed digital.
