What is a “cup” measurement in lbs and oz?

A cup (8 fluid ounces) is a volume measurement and the conversion to weight (lbs, ounces, grams) is all dependent upon the food. For example, from my baking experience, All purpose flour (plain flour) weighs 140 grams (5 ounces weight) per cup Granulated sugar weighs 200 grams (7 ounces weight) per cup Liquid (water based ingredients) are almost the same…. 1 cup (8 fluid ounces) is about 8 ounces weight. In fact, I believe the original “cup” measuring system was based up water so watery ingredients (water, broth, milk) would be equivalent. Obviously, honey and molasses is too thick to be considered a “watery or a water based” ingredient.
