A crown is a full coverage cap that covers a tooth to strengthen or improve the appearance of the tooth. The reasons for placing a crown on a tooth is to support a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth structure, protect a weak tooth from fracturing, to cover a dental implant and to also cover badly shaped or discolored teeth. The goal is to create a crown that looks like the natural tooth.
