Oh, war from the start, is it? 🙂 There are two schools of thought entrenched deeply in theory beliefs on the list about the credit. The first theory is that it is an abstact game mechanic used only to make life easy in printing the books — that the “credit” itself doesn’t exist, but local currencies generated by each empire exist and that by assigning a “exchange rate” the GM is able to parse everything from the books into Lazlo Gogs or whatever. This theory also contends that each local empire creatres its own currency, leading to an array of currencies available (since it makes little sense for the enemies of the CS to use their currency). The second theory is that the credit literally exists and is a universal money unit. By waving a credstick around, the credit is deducted from the account (with adequate security, obviously).
