A credit card verification number (often called “cvv2”) is a short number imprinted on your credit card to verify that you have the card itself in your possession. The security code is located in different areas for different credit cards: • MasterCard, Visa, Discover — three-digit number printed on the back of the card by the signature panel. • American Express — four-digit number printed (not embossed) on the front of the card, on the right side above the card number.
