Since the inception of the products, there have been cheaply made replicas of the A.L. Enterprises products, mostly (if not all) from China. Though we don’t see many CB-2000 fakes these days, the CB-3000, Curve, and recently even the CB-6000 units have been shamelessly copied. Aside from the illegalities of these copies, primarily for patent infringement in the USA, there are two major problems: they break easily, and they come with no manufacturer warranty. Authorized distributors of the A.L. Enterprises products are contractually bound to sell the devices at full retail price, unless they have announced the discontinuance of the item (such as the CB-2000 in December 2008, and recently the hinged ring models of the Curve and CB-3000). If you see one of the items for sale at less than our prices, it is very likely a counterfeit. Some other ways to tell: The authentic products do not come in velvet bags (CB-2000 and CB-3000).
