What is a conventional hero in greek tradgedy?

In Greek mythology a Hero is a semi-god. This means that they are half human and half god. Look at Hercules and Achilles. It is believed that they were the offspring of a god, usually someone like Zeus and a mortal woman. The Heroes, in their quest to becoming fully recognized gods, they went through earthly ordeals, maybe to prove the humans they were better than manking, but at the same time to prove to the gods they were worth of becoming gods. You will always find that many of the gods not only did not recognize these heroes as being gods, but actually put lots of effort for them to fail in their hero quest. A hero is full of drama, and they may die in their heroic actions, maybe to save a human. By doing this they become gods, or immortal, at least by name, because they conquered their humanity by saving those that are weaker than them, but they showed they were greater than gods, because gods usually have no feelings for humans.
