Grown on plants that are shrublike and can grow to a height of twelve to fifteen feet, the Confederate rose has the unique property of changing color during the course of the day. The bloom on the rose opens in the morning as a beautiful white or a subtle pink, and gradually darkens during the course of the day. A confederate rose is a beautiful 6-8 ft tree in my yard and is as described by the first answerer. It isn’t really a rose or a “confederate” as it isn’t a native plant. I’m glad it found its way from China though. They really are pretty to watch bloom. Confederate Rose is also a society/group. Here is the description from their website… We assist the SCV with their historical, educational, benevolent and social functions. Special emphasis is placed on the preservation of Confederate symbols. As there are few rules and restrictions to stifle the creativity of its members, each Society is free to focus on the activities important to its members and local SCV Camps along with supporting their efforts on the state and national levels.
