What is a compressor bypass valve?
Sometimes referred to as a compressor relief valve, the compressor bypass valve is a mechanical device that makes use of vacuum action to release pressure from the intake system on various types of motors. Found in the design for many turbocharged and supercharged automobile engines, compressor bypass valves are also found in the engines of various types of planes and in some train engine designs as well. Developed in the early 20th century, the efficiency and use of the compressor bypass valve has continued to be refined over the years.
