What is a complex building or a building of moderate complexity?
The Competency Standards in Architecture defines the following: ” Complex Building ¾ a building that involves elements of high rise or large span requiring specialised organisation in multi-occupancy and/or special purpose in terms of people and vehicular circulation; complicated in its spatial articulation; complex in the planning, use of materials, building services and fittings ” Building of Moderate Complexity is a low or medium rise or medium span; utilises standard structural solution and simple in terms of people and vehicular circulation; has conventional construction systems, building services and finishes.
