What is a community partner and how do we collaborate with them?
A community partner is any person or organization in your community that can provide support to your service-learning project. Consider who in your community has similar goals to your class’s project. Does your service have a recipient? Collaborate with them to see how the students can best meet their needs. Your partnership should be mutually beneficial; students will learn from the partners, and partners will benefit from the students’ service. Community partners can lend expertise to the area students are studying, donate time and goods to the project, or provide sites for students to perform service.
