What is a Combined Honours programme?
You may split 11 advanced level credits between Biology and another discipline. This is called a Combined Honours programme. The subject area in which the honours thesis is done is the Primary subject of a combined programme and must have a minimum of 6 and maximum of 7 full credits. The second subject area is called the Secondary Subject and must have a minimum of 4 and maximum of 5 full credits. You must satisfy the course requirements of both departments of the two subject areas you select and your honours application must be approved and signed by the honours coordinators of each department. Remember, even if Biology is the Secondary Subject and you are only taking 4 Biology credits, 3.5 of these credits MUST be the Honours Biology Core classes and you must earn a 3.0 GPA in these classes. (See points # 3 & 4 above.
