What is a color rendering index (CRI)?
The color rendering index (CRI) is an indication of a light’s ability to reproduce a wide range of colors. The higher the CRI, the better the light will be able to reproduce the full spectrum of colors. The CRI represents the difference in spectral content between a light source and a black body radiator with the same color temperature and flux output. The maximum possible CRI is 100. A typical cool white LED has a CRI around 72. Most warm white LEDs have a CRI around 83. Our high CRI warm white LEDs generate a CRI of 93 – the highest in the industry. The differences between conventional LEDs and high CRI LEDs are quite dramatic when compared side-by-side. Skin, plants and even rocks take on a very natural tone and show much more vibrant colors.
