What is a codec and which one should I use?
A codec is a software program used to compress video data in a particular fashion in order to make it suitable for a particular use. The default codec we use for computer video encoding is the Cinepak codec because of its common availability on Windows and Macintosh systems. If you would like your videos encoded in a computer format other than the Cinepak codec, we also will encode using the codecs listed below when specifically requested. Keep in mind your system must include the codecs the video is encoded with in order to play it back.
