What is a cob house and how can I learn how to make one?
Cob is a mixture of sand clay and straw- wet enough to mold yet dry enough to build up without forms. Cob is a very old building method that is now enjoying a renaissance. One advantage of cob structures is that they are energy efficient – a cob house provides a large amount of thermal mass which helps keep the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter. City Farmer recently commissioned the construction of a beautiful cob shed and cob oven!
