The Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) program is administered by the Convention Industry Council — an organization formed in 1949 that today is composed of 30 leading national and international organizations representing more than 81,000 individuals and 13,000 firms or properties involved in the meetings, conventions, exhibitions and travel and tourism industries. Established in 1985, the CMP credential was developed to increase the proficiency of meeting professionals in any component or sector of the industry.
