Conditions to obtain a class 1 licence You must: Have fewer than 4 demerit points on your driving record; Not have had your driver’s licence suspended or revoked within the last two years due to a driving-related Criminal Code offence or an accumulation of demerit points; Pass a SAAQ vision test; Submit a medical report that meets SAAQ requirements; Pass a knowledge test (Cost: $10); Have held a learner’s licence for at least 3 months or 1 month if you are registered in a truck driving training program that leads to a vocational diploma issued by the Ministère de l’Éducation du Québec; Have at least 3 years of driving experience as the holder of a class 5 licence (passenger vehicle); OR Have at least 2 years of driving experience AND have successfully completed training in a centre recognized by the SAAQ that includes 300 hours of driving a truck tractor or tractor semi-trailer combination vehicle on a public highway; Pass 2 road tests.
